Seed Starting

I ordered my seeds 2 weeks ago. I’m going to order some seed starting vessels today. I found these seem to fit what I’m looking for. Last year I used peat cups. Although I love the idea of planting them directly into the ground, I had a difficult time figuring out how to keep them organized under the grow lamp. I ended up putting them in plastic shoe box size storage bins and then lining the boxes up next to one another. I thought I’d streamline the process this year and purchase the seedling grow kits. This way I can continue to reuse these over and over (unlike the peat cups) and I like that they have a reservoir at the bottom and a mat that wicks the water up to the seedlings. A major issue I ran into last year was that I couldn’t seem to keep up on the watering. This was partly because I was in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy and also because I had a 1 & 2 year old as well. I guess you can say I was a little distracted and tired so then I’d forget to water the seedlings.
This is what I’m planning on growing this year. It’s been so difficult to narrow it down. This list doesn’t include the Pizza Garden I’m going to help my babes W and Super N create.

  1. steel storage bins are the best thing to use. they last very long and is recyclable too ‘

  2. plastic and storage bins are both great, if i want a more durable storage bins then i would opt for steel storage bins ~.”
